Everyone knows maintaining a pool can take a bit of time. If your pool happens to become chemically unbalanced it can take a lot of work to get it right again. Obviously the best and easiest way is to make sure you keep it right. The advent of the automatic vacuums for pools has made actual cleaning a lot easier, now you can get systems that will automatically keep your chlorine and pH in balance.
Saline System
Instead of having to deal with toxic fumes from chlorine, and constantly trying to keep the level right around 2 ppm, get a saline system. This system will convert normal table salt into chlorine as your pool water flows through it. Once the algae and bacteria have all been killed by the chlorine it turns back into salt and runs through the system again. You can set the system to keep the chlorine level where you want it. Other than the occasional addition of salt as it is splashed out, the salt generator will keep your pool sanitized for you. An added benefit is the expense. After any initial cost to have your system changed, you will find that purchasing salt once in a while is much less expensive than buying 5 gallon buckets of dichlor tablets. You will have no more need for shock treatments either.
CO2
Using CO2 instead of muratic acid to maintain your pH balance makes things easier still. No more worries about spilling the acid and burning yourself, or even worse, of it getting mixed with the chlorine and crating a poisonous vapor. CO2 tanks can be set up to run with your system, keeping your pH just right with very little work from you.
If you are a pool owner that tends to go away during the summer, or that only uses the pool for special occasions, a few simple changes can make maintaining your pool much easier. Who knows, maybe if you don t have to spend so much time taking care of it, you may actually get in and enjoy it more often?
Cost Considerations
You may think eco-friendly and natural means expensive. With many products, safe and natural equals high cost. Luckily, that is not the case when it comes to maintaining your backyard or home owners association community swimming pool. After any initial cost to have your system changed, you will find that purchasing salt once in a while is much less expensive than buying 5 gallon buckets of dichlor tablets. You will have no more need for shock treatments either.
You may wonder, if there are affordable and safe options available, why do neighborhood pools spend so much on expensive swimming pool maintenance plans? Ask your HOA swimming pool provider that question, and start shopping for a way to sanitize in a natural, healthy and cost effective way. Everyone in the neighborhood will benefit, from the children swimming in the pool to their parents paying the home owners association dues!
